Are you thinking about taking a family trip to Atlantis but wondering: Is The Atlantis Bahamas Resort Worth It?
The Atlantis Bahamas is world-famous and an iconic place to visit. It’s on most families’ bucket list, to visit The Bahamas, go down the waterslides, and stay at one of the most famous resorts in the world.
Our family had the chance to stay at Atlantis for one year for our family vacation. I had been wanting to visit this resort for so many years. And when I found out you can also swim with pigs, I was sold! So I did everything I could to make this trip happen.
Needless to say, I was a tad bit disappointed with the Atlantis. So was it worth it? In my opinion, it was worth it to me so I could check it off my bucket list and experience the resort that so many people talk about.

But if I had to do it again… I would have saved my money and stayed somewhere else.
Atlantis Bahamas is not somewhere I’ll ever be visiting again. Especially with so many other places to stay on the island, like Baha Mar or Beaches All Inclusive Resort.
What I would recommend… is to book a place like Baha Mar to stay at. Luckily, we split our time between the two resorts and LOVED Baha Mar. The difference between the two resorts is night and day.
If you really have your heart set on experiencing Atlantis, I would recommend getting a day pass to visit Atlantis. This way, you can experience the beaches, the pools, the waterslides, and even their aquariums. But you don’t have to waste too much time and money staying in a run-down resort
Visiting Nassau, Bahamas
Dont get me wrong, the Bahamas are beautiful! And our family had an amazing time visiting this island in the Caribbean. We had some truly unforgettable experiences while we were there, and are already planning to go back. Just not to Atlantis.
Two of our favorite activities were the Exuma Bahamas Swimming with the Pigs Experience, and visiting Blue Lagoon Island.
We even really enjoyed walking around Nassau and experiencing local Bahamian life. Downtown Nassau has some really cute shops that carry everything from typically touristy stuff like shirts and sweatshirts to luxury items and locally made souvenirs.
You’ll also find homemade crafts, and your kids can get their hair braided. The downtown area has plenty of restaurants, bars, food stands, and even food trucks to choose from.
You can also spend a day at Junkanoo Beach playing beach volleyball, enjoying fresh seafood, or swimming in the clear blue water.
Or you can go visit the Pirates of Nassau, Pirate Museum!
Overview of the Atlantis Resort
The Atlantis Bahamas resort is a sprawling paradise located on the picturesque Paradise Island, just off the coast of Nassau, New Providence. This luxurious destination is renowned for its five impressive hotel towers and a massive 140+ acre waterpark, making it an ideal spot for a family vacation.
The resort boasts beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters, perfect for relaxing or engaging in water activities. Whether you’re looking to unwind on the sandy shores or dive into the myriad of adventures available, the Atlantis resort offers a blend of relaxation and excitement that caters to all ages.
The Cost Of Atlantis Bahamas
Atlantis Bahamas is known for being very expensive, so I knew that going into this vacation and budgeted appropriately.
What I didn’t expect was the quality of the resort and services we would encounter. When you go somewhere really expensive, like Hawaii, you get a world-class resort to go with the price tag.
Atlantis was not like this. It was old and outdated, and the rooms were no different than basic hotels.
If you do plan to stay at Atlantis, choose to stay at the Coral. The rooms are slightly more updated, have the most luxurious and best pool, and are more reasonably priced than the other towers. The Beach Tower, once a popular value accommodation, has been closed and is being redeveloped into a new hotel called Somewhere Else, scheduled to reopen in 2024.
As for the rest of the resort, it can definitely use an update. The waterslides were fun but there were only a few of them. This is why I think a day pass to Atlantis is more than enough time to experience the resort. Most of the waterslides looked worn out and we even got scratched up on a few of them.
The Food At Atlantis Bahamas
Again, I knew the Bahamas would be pricey. But I was hoping to at least have some quality cuisine for the price I was paying. You just won’t find that at Atlantis.
Instead, we encountered very basic food. Almost as if they were trying to cater to Americans with pizza, deli sandwiches, and chicken nuggets.
I was looking for fresh seafood, not overprocessed and overpriced food.
We found that if you ventured off the property to downtown Nassau, you’ll find what you’re looking for! We ate fresh Conch, seafood, lobster, and even their famous Bahamian mac n cheese (seriously, you have to try some!)
Dining and Nightlife
When it comes to dining, the Atlantis resort truly shines with over 20 restaurants offering a wide array of culinary delights. From fine dining establishments like Olives, where you can savor Mediterranean-inspired dishes, to casual spots like Marina Pizzeria, there’s something to satisfy every palate and budget.
For those craving Asian flavors, Chopstix serves up delicious Chinese cuisine. As the sun sets, the resort transforms into a vibrant nightlife hub with numerous bars, lounges, and even a casino. Whether you’re in the mood for a romantic dinner, a lively night out with friends, or trying your luck at the casino, the Atlantis Resort has it all.
Staying At the Atlantis Resort
We may not have loved staying at the Atlantis, but we adored Nassau and The Bahamas. We definitely plan to visit here again to explore more of the area, but we’ll most likely be staying at another resort.
Each hotel within the Atlantis resort ensures a comfortable and enjoyable stay with amenities like fitness centers, pools, and on-site dining options. The fitness center is well-equipped, catering to guests who wish to maintain their fitness routine while on vacation.
Pools, Waterpark, and Aquariums
The Aquaventure waterpark is a major attraction within the Atlantis Bahamas resort, featuring extensive water slides, lagoons, and various activities for guests. The waterpark is accessible to both resort guests and day visitors, offering a range of experiences that appeal to families and thrill-seekers alike.
So Is the Atlantis Bahamas Resort Worth It?
Well, that’s really up to you. You can check it off your bucket list with a day pass. But otherwise, I do not think it’s worth it.
