The Perfect 3-Day Krabi Itinerary for First-Time Visitors
Planning a trip to Krabi? This perfect 3-day Krabi itinerary covers island hopping, Railay Beach, and the best things to do for an unforgettable Thailand adventure.
During my three-week trip through Thailand, I spent three days in Krabi, and the most important thing I can tell you is… it wasn’t enough time!
If I could go back and make any changes, I would spend a little less time in Phuket and a little more time in Krabi and the Phi Phi Islands. This place was absolutely magical. It gives Hawaii a run for its money.

One thing I really loved about Krabi is that it seemed cleaner and more taken care of than places like Phuket. It was jam-packed with people and nightlife. Krabi is a more laid-back, calmer beach town.
While I do wish that I could have spent more time here, this is how I spent 3 unforgettable days in Krabi.
Day 1: Explore Krabi’s Beaches & Sunset Views
I arrived in Krabi by speedboat from Phuket and opted for the earliest time to make the most of my first day. Luckily, the hotel I stayed at was able to hold my luggage so I could start exploring.
I was excited to see the town and began by walking down to the beach area. You’ll easily find tons of shops and restaurants along the beachfront at Ao Nang Beach.

Morning: Relax at Ao Nang Beach
Krabi isn’t big, but it has a few really beautiful beaches. Ao Nang Beach is right in the heart of Krabi and is easy to walk to from most hotels in the area. Since it was still early in the day, I took a leisurely walk down the beach and watched the boats go in and out. There are SO many longtail boats here.
I started to get hungry and stopped at the Mantis for probably some of the best food I’ve had on my entire trip.

Afternoon: Railay Beach Adventure
Right from Ao Nang Beach, you can hop on a longtail boat for just a few bucks, which will take you over to Railay Beach. The ride alone is worth it! It’s a short 15-minute boat ride, but it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Railay Beach is a great place to spend a day or half a day. The beach is expansive, and there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy some sun. But if you continue down the path, there are so many cute shops and places to eat.

You will even find some great massage places. I’ve already had about 5 massages in Thailand so far, so I opted for a foot massage in Raillay.
Then head down the path and follow the signs for the Phra Nang Cave. You’ll have to pay a small fee, but it’s worth it. The ave itself is beautiful, easy to walk through, and you’ll see both monkeys and bats (minding their own business!).

Evening: Sunset and Dinner in Ao Nang
By nighttime, you’ll want to be back at Ao Nang Beach to see the fire show. It starts around sunset and goes for a few hours every night. Definitely don’t miss this one!

Walk up the street a little and check out the “Thai Me Up” restaurant for some more amazing Thai food.

Then after dinner, I took a Grab and headed about 10 minutes away to see my first Muay Thai Fight. Even if you’re not into boxing, it was fun to watch! And to be a part of the culture.

Day 2: Island Hopping Tour
Morning: Four Islands Tour
If you haven’t already, you MUST book a boat tour to the Four Islands. I highly suggest the Phi Phi Early Bird & 4 Islands – Day Tour by Speedboat from Krabi.
There’s just nothing in the world like the islands of Southern Thailand. Seeing them by longtail boat is an experience you can’t pass up. Go snorkeling in clean water with colorful fish, and enjoy lunch cruising past towering rock cliffs.

Afternoon: Snorkeling & Beach Time
Most boat tours take all day, but if you have some time left, relax at the pool at your hotel. Most hotels in the area have excellent pools with swim-up bars for a few hours of relaxation.

Evening: Night Market and Street Food
When evening hits, you need to head to the Ao Nang Night Market. I went to several night markets in different areas of Thailand, and this was by far my favorite. It was a lot bigger and had just way more stuff.

I saw everythign from exotic food (like alligator) to savoring treats like these ice cream waffles. Come hungry!

But there are also lots of shops. I found some great souvenirs, and authentic things too, like handmade paintings and jewelry. You can also enjoy some music and entertainment. This night market was so fun, I would have gone every night if I had had the time.
Day 3: Temples, Nature & Views
Morning: Tiger Cave Temple
On the third day, I ventured outside of Krabi a little bit to see the Tiger Cave Temple. This temple is not for the faint of heart! It’s 1200 steps straight up, but the views once you get there are very memorable. Just take your time, anyone can do it!
Afternoon: Emerald Pool & Hot Springs
You’ll have to head out of Krabi to see the Emerald Pool and Hot Springs, but it’s worth the trip! These natural hot springs are not only gorgeous but great for relazing too.
Both the Tiger Temple and the Hot Springs require a drive, so if you dont have your own transportation, I would suggest booking a tour. Let them plan the whole day for you with an air-conditioned ride.
This Emerald Pool, Hot Springs, and Tiger Cave Temple Private Day Trip is the best, in my opinion!
Where to Stay in Krabi
Krabi is not very big, but it does have really beautiful places to stay. Before you select a place, you should understand the different areas of Krabi.
Railay Beach has some amazing bungalows and jungle-type accommodations. If you’re looking for something remote but stunning, this is an ideal location. But note: Railay Beach is only accessible by small boats. So you’re getting yourself and your luggage there isn’t the easiest.
Ao Nang is ideal because there are a lot of options for resorts, and you are in the heart of everything. You can walk to the beach for the fire show. You’re within walking distance of the Ao Nang Night Market.
I stayed at the Centara Anda Dhevi Resort & Spa Krabi and absolutely loved it! I opted for the walk-in pool room and was so happy I did. My room was luxurious, and I could walk straight into the pool from my deck. They even had a great swim-up bar.

Final Thoughts: Is 3 Days in Krabi Enough?
In my opinion, no! I really wish I had spent another day or two in Krabi. They have a really well-known ethical elephant sanctuary, which I would have loved to visit. As well as just taking a day to relax on the beach and enjoy the views.

I definitely encourage slowing down and taking time to enjoy your Krabi itinerary. Spend more time on Krabi Island Hopping or enjoying the town.
Enjoy!
