I booked an all-girls trip through TrovaTrip and had the time of my life! But would I do it again? Here’s my honest TrovaTrip review. (I took this trip on my own, paid for it fully by myself and all of this is my honest opinion of Trovatrip.)
Before booking my trip, I had never heard of TrovaTrip or group trips in general. When one of my favorite influencers posted about hosting a trip to South Africa, I became intrigued by the concept of host trips. I learned that many travel content creators are hosting group trips, partnering with companies like TrovaTrip to lead these adventures.
South Africa has always been on my bucket list, but I never had anyone to go with. And going to a country like that by myself just seemed overwhelming, and to be honest, a little scary.
So when I saw it was a group trip with several other women, I jumped at the chance and booked it. It just happened to be with TrovaTrip. So I flew from the US to Cape Town by myself to meet up with 19 other women I had never met. And would I do it again? Also-freaking-lutely!
What is TrovaTrip?
TrovaTrip is a platform that connects content creators with their communities through group travel. Imagine exploring new destinations and cultures while being guided by someone who truly knows the ins and outs of the place. That’s exactly what TrovaTrip offers!
These group trips are hosted by content creators who are experts in their field, whether it’s adventure, wellness, food, or culture. They bring their unique insights and deep understanding of the destination to provide you with an immersive and unforgettable experience.
It’s not just about seeing new places; it’s about learning and growing with a group of like-minded travelers. If you’re looking for a way to travel that combines exploration with education, TrovaTrip is the way to go.
Booking a Group Trip With TrovaTrip
I found that booking with TrovaTrip was extremely easy. The host of the trip posted a link on her page that led me straight to the South Africa trip booking. It was super easy to set up an account. Planning an international trip can be daunting, but TrovaTrip made it seamless and stress-free.
TrovaTrip does a good job of giving you every detail you need, even before you book, so you know what you are getting. They outlined the exact dates, the list of activities, and whats included and what’s not.
They even detail where you will be staying and what you’ll be doing every day. In South Africa, we traveled the Garden Route so our accommodation changed every other day.
As someone who actually loves planning things out (ok, maybe I’m a little more of a control freak with my vacations) it was nice to be able to see literally every detail of our trip. But at the same time, it was nice that they had it all planned out and I could sit back and enjoy a vacation for the first time in my life.
TrovaTrip is very up-front about its payment structure and pricing. The price I was quoted was the price I paid. No hidden fees. The only extras I paid were traveler insurance and any additional excursions offered (for us that was shark cage diving!). I also loved the fact that you could pay it over time and the entire amount was not due upon booking.
Note: Just make sure you make the final payment on time. Someone in our group missed the final payment and they canceled her trip (with a refund of course). But she missed out because she forgot to make the final payment. I can’t wait to use TrovaTrip for my next trip!

The TrovaTrip Website
Once you book the trip, TrovaTrip sets you up with a portal on their website and you have all the information you could need here. When you first log in, it looks something like this…
As you can see from the tabs, there is a lot to explore. Your trip overview will tell you the basic details. You can also plan and manage multiple trips, which can lead to significant earnings and unique opportunities to engage with your audience. Move on to “Manage Booking”… Here you’ll see your trip add-ons if you want to partake in any of the extra activities offered.
The next tab is “Itinerary” and I’ll just show you a small snippet of this one because it’s actually pretty lengthy. You can explore each day of your trip. And on each day’s tab, it’ll tell you what town you’re staying in, what hotel you’re using, the activities for that day, and what meals are included. Seriously, they give you ALL the details and my type A personality LOVED that!
Then move on to the “Preparation” tab and here you’ll find tons of useful and helpful information about your trip. They supply you with a packing list, give you tips for the trip, the expected weather, and even some fun facts about the area you are visiting.
Arriving On My TrovaTrip
I never went on a trip with 20 women before (let alone of whom I’d never met!) so when I booked my trip to South Africa, I booked my airline ticket to go out 2 days before the TrovaTrip began. I wanted a little alone time to explore Cape Town on my own
As Day 1 of our TrovaTrip started, the other girls started arriving at the hotel and we instantly began getting to know each other.
Spoiler Alert: this group of 19 girls and I become fast friends. I can honestly say each and every one of them was amazing and we still keep in touch. One thing I loved about TrovaTrip was the chance to make new friends.
On day one we had our welcome dinner and we all met in the lobby of our hotel. There, we were introduced to our host of the trip and our Tour Guide.
For the entire duration of the trip (all 10 days!) we had a tour guide and a driver. These two guys were amazing and I can’t say enough good things about them. They not only were kind, but they were super fun and were local to South Africa so they knew all the ins and outs and helped us navigate this foreign country. They make all the arrangements and even help to rearrange plans if needed.
My TrovaTrip experience was incredible. Here are some things that I really particularly loved about it:
I felt Safe in South Africa
Traveling with a tour guide who was knowledgeable about the area made a world of differnece in how safe I felt while traveling to a different country. I also felt like TrovaTrip did a great job of booking us in places that were safe and in good area.
The Activities Were Amazing
We got to do some really cool activities while in South Africa! We went paddleboarding with penguins, snorkeling with seals, ziplining, shark cage diving, and of course the safari! We visited an Elephant sanctuary and a Monkey Habitat. I feel like I never would have known about half of these activities if they weren’t planned out for me.
Making Great Friends with Fellow Travelers
As I mentioned before, I flew out to South Africa on my own to meet up with 19 other girls I never met. Meeting other women and getting to know them over those 10 days was a magical experience. We still keep in touch and I can say I truly made some new friends. I look forward to doing more group trips in the future, just to meet new people now!
I Didn’t Have to Plan Anything: TrovaTrip Took Care of All the Details
This was probably one of my favorite parts of booking a group trip with TrovaTrip. I’m a single mom so when I travel, I plan EVERYTHING. Every last detail. While sometimes it’s nice to be the planner, it did feel good to just sit back and let the tour company plan it all out, arrange the transportation, and take us where we needed to go.

TrovaTrip: the Bad Reviews
I honestly dont have a single bad thing to say about booking a group trip with TrovaTrip. Everything from booking to traveling to South Africa was amazing. However, I always recommend doing your research on any company you decide to book on.
I have read several reviews on TrovaTrip not giving refunds and making it difficult to cancel your trip. I didn’t experience this so I can’t speak to it. But I will say that they are pretty clear about their cancellation rates and dates. So just make sure you do your own due diligence before booking!
